In parapsychology, out-of-body experience is defined as conscious travelling at different places without his body physically. From a scientific point of view, some studies were pointing an abnormality at the temporaparietal region. Herein we report a case who had visual hallucinations and telling she was on astral travels. An 18-year-old woman was admitted to emergency ward with her parents’ request for the complaints of hallucinating cars, people, weird things on walls and suicidal ideas. It was learnt that she was curious about out-of-body experience and made some attempts for this purpose in two weeks. There was no trauma in her history. Olanzapine 5 mg/day was started and dose was increased to 10 mg/day in a few days. She responded therapy on 4th day and hallucinations decreased. There are studies about out-of-body-experience.. It is proven that, the people who have neurological predisposition to this condition, has instability or multisensory integration in their temporoparietal junction. It is known from various studies that these people have somatoform dissociation, lower performance on a measure of physical self-presentation. Also lower body awareness is observed for people, who are prone to living non-body experience considering other people. As a result of such imaginations and non-body experiences, derealisation and visual hallucinations appeared in this case. This condition was thought to be resulted from activation at temporoparietal lob as neuroscientists have proven. But more studies are needed to prove this result.
